The Program

The best way to learn about the culture and customs of a country is through international work exchanges and homestay programs. The internship program is a maximum 12 months practical experience directly related to your academic training or degree objectives and is an entry level introduction to the work environment. Participation in this program improves the Intern’s understanding of American business practices and methodologies as well as enabling the overseas participant to gain valuable insight into American culture and society.

Three internship options are available depending on individual needs: paid or unpaid self-arranged placement, paid arranged placement or unpaid arranged internship and housing option. WEP’s partner organisation is a designated sponsor and very experienced at placing participants into their field of interest. Examples are: arts and culture, information media and communications, education, social sciences, libraries, social services, marketing, management, business, finance, commerce, engineering, architecture, public administration and law, hospitality.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a degree or diploma course or to have graduated within twelve months of the internship start date in the USA
• Completed an academic degree or recognized professional certificate in a related specialised occupational field
• Age between 18 and 35

Departure and duration

It is possible to do an internship from four or 12 months and it is recommended to begin the program either the first weekend or the last weekend of the month

Accommodation

Our partner provides assistance in locating an apartment or alternative boarding. All living expenses will be your responsibility (rental cost, monthly utilities, furniture…)

Financial conditions

Included: Placement for maximum 12 months, 24 hour free emergency phone number, Health insurance for the duration of the program, Program orientation on arrival, Assistance with accommodation - apartment, alternative boarding or in homestay, intern handbook, reports and internship evaluations during your stay

Not included: Airfares, visa fees, airport transfers, daily living expenses, host family fee for the unpaid arranged internship and housing placement
