Teaching English in China
The Program
Volunteer teachers come to a Chinese school as an assistant class-room teacher. Volunteers will be mainly teaching conversational English in class by choosing their own topics. There will be one Chinese teacher sent to each class to help the volunteer teachers.
The Classes
The average class size is about 50 students per class, while many schools have bigger classes with over 60 or even 70 students in each class. Volunteers are free during the evening and weekends. The teaching loads vary from school to school, but usually the volunteers teach from two to four hours per day.
Accommodation
All volunteers will stay in the apartments on school campuses, in a friendly, vibrant and secure environment.
Project Location
Yantai City, Shandong Province, China. Yantai is one of the major Chinese coastal cities for tourist attractions, historical heritage and relics, boasting of a total population of over 6.4 million with 12 satellite towns and districts under its administration.
Conditions Of Participation
• 18 years old or over at the time of application;
• Native speakers of English from Australia, Canada, UK, US, New Zealand, Ireland and Singapore.
• Healthy and enthusiastic in teaching assignment;
• No qualification, no work experience and no diploma/degree are required.
Financial conditions
Included: The on-campus private accommodation in the apartment with living facilities in the safe and secure settings and environments, three meals per day in the school cafeteria, airport pick-up and welcome dinner, local city tours organisation and planning, orientation upon arrival, program supervision and emergency service, airport seeing-off after the completion of the Program
Not included: The international round-trip airfare and Chinese domestic airfare, visa costs, overseas health and travel insurance, personal expenses.
